Talk  *  Sing  *  Read  *  Write  *  Play

Talking is Teaching! Talk, Sing, and Read with your child to build their knowledge, vocabulary and skills.

Talk: Children need to receive and create language to learn it. Engage in conversations and introduce new words during your regular activities.

Sing: Singing is a great way to learn about language. When we sing, the sounds that make up words become more evident.

Read: Share books together! Reading can be fun and is a great way to introduce new words and concepts.

Write: Scribble, draw and make tactile art. These activities are important for building fine and gross motor skills that will be necessary when writing later.

Play: Children experience the world through play while developing fine and gross motor skills, cognitive concepts, language, and social skills.

Help your child be kindergarten ready!
In the first five years of life, everyday experiences and relationships stimulate brain development, creating millions of new neural connections (synapses) every second. These connections enable basic brain functions – movement, communication, emotion, etc. – and provide the foundation for all future behavior, learning, and health. Children’s daily experiences during these early years determine which brain connections develop, and which will last for a lifetime. As such, the amount and quality of care, stimulation, and interaction they receive is critically important: adults who give attention, respond to, and interact with young children are literally building those children’s brains.
